Proponents of carbon capture, such as the oil and gas industry, those researching it and many politicians say that CCS, the process of actively removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and/or capturing it from carbon emitting industries before it enters the air, will be the only way to avert the most harmful effects of a warming planet. However, many scientists and environmentalists see CCS as a very risky, expensive, and inefficient diversion from the critical task of moving to renewable energy and an enticing excuse to continue to use fossil fuels. Time and financial investment are limited as we address climate change, so wasting either is not an option. See more HERE.
