How Members Can Submit Events for the Calendar

It is important that the League events appear on the LWV Calendar.  It makes them visible to all our members and might encourage members to join an activity that they would otherwise not know about.

To have Fran put an event on the calendar hit the link circled above and you will see two links -- one for calendar events and one for Weekly Update content.  Hit the link for the Calendar Event and Fill out the Form.  When you submit it, an email will go to Fran so that she can put the event on the calendar.  You must be logged in as a member to do this.
Be sure to include:
  • Event Title:
  • Event Date and Time:
  • Event Location:
  • Event description/purpose/agenda:
  • Who should be contacted with questions:

LWV Denver Briefings

Plan to attend the LWV Denver's January 17 briefing featuring reporter,  Kyle Harris of Denverite,  talking about the Denver Mayoral Election.  Kyle will cover the responsibilities of the person who will fill this office in our “strong mayor” system and how the campaigning of the 24 (as of this writing) people who are aspiring to this office will roll out under Denver’s new Fair Elections Fund guidelines. For more information see the Voter newsletter.

Let your neighbors and friends know about this important briefing.  Right click and copy the image on the left and send via email or text so that individuals outside the League can register and participate.

Observer Corps Update -- Affordable Housing at 38th and Holly

On Wednesday, January 4 at 10:30 am, LWVD Observer Corps members observed the Denver City Council Safety and Housing Committee meeting for its weekly meeting to review a loan agreement with 38th and Holly LLLP for $8,319,000 to develop affordable multi-family housing with 253 units, located at 5908 and 5909 East 38th Avenue in Council District 8.

Some of the units will be reserved for individuals below 50% and 35% of AMI.  This is one of the largest contracts written by the Denver Department of Housing Security (HOST) for construction of affordable housing.  Committee members asked questions of HOST staff including whether the contract provides for adequate maintenance of the building and whether there we or more “navigators” available to the assist, particularly low-income residents.  Another concern was whether the loan payments made under the contract will go to the Affordable Housing Fund or the City General Fund.  The loan agreement goes now to the Denver City Council for final approval.

Member Lookup Function

Any active member can look up information on a LWV Denver member (name, address, phone, email).  You must be signed in to the website to get this menu option.  When you click on Member Lookup on the right side of the blue top menu bar you will get a search screen where you can look up any member by name (first or last) or address.  If you don't put anything in the search fields, you will get information on all of Denver's active members.

If you are having trouble logging into the website, please contact the office and Fran will help you.  If the lookup function doesn't seem to be working for you, please contact Andrea Mitchell.
