Weekly Update

An Important Message for all Colorado Voters

From the Executive Board of the Colorado County Clerks Association

You might have received this link from LWVCO, but we are sending it again because it is so important to spread the word that Colorado's elections are secure and accurate and are professionally run by experts in the field. Colorado voters may trust that their vote will be counted as cast. Every voice matters, and every vote counts.

As Sue Stark put it, combating misinformation about election security this year is important even in Colorado, which has national recognition as the “Gold Standard” for election integrity, reliability and timely reporting of accurate results after our statewide Risk-Limiting Audit process. However, many people do not understand the election process from universal mail-in ballots to extended openings of Voting Centers to how votes are tabulated. “Making Democracy Work” is not just the League of Women Voters‘ mantra, but being a non-partisan, non-politicized source of information about How Democracy Works can be a role for every Leaguer.

We presented this white paper at the National LWV Convention in 2022 (“Colorado’s Innovative and Stellar Election System”). It gives ways to combat voter skepticism about election security.

Updates from Voter Service on Election Dates

By publication time of the December/January VOTER, we were not able to find a caucus date for the Repubican party.  We have since learned that the Republican Caucuses will be held on Thursday, March 7 in Denver.  More information can be found here.

A correction - February 14 (not the 16th as stated in the VOTER) is the last day to affiliate with either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party in order to vote in the March precinct caucuses.  Unaffiliated voters can vote in primary elections, but they cannot vote in party caucuses.
