Hooray!

The Colorado Voting Rights Act has passed the General Assembly and is headed to the Governor's desk for signature! Excellent news for Colorado voters and the League of Women Voters!

What is the Colorado Voting Rights Act (COVRA)?
For years, the federal Voting Rights Act has been eroded by court decisions – leaving gaps in protections for many communities. With SB25-001, Colorado is stepping up to protect the right to vote at the state level.

Now passed, the Colorado Voting Rights Act will:
  • Codify protections against voter discrimination, especially for communities that have been historically marginalized.
  • Establish safeguards for multilingual, LGBTQ+, justice-involved, disabled, and tribal voters.
  • Help ensure that no eligible voter is denied fair and full access to the democratic process.

This is a landmark opportunity for Colorado to lead the nation in inclusive and equitable elections.
